This week marks the opening of the Augusta Curiel: Surinamese Photographer 1873-1937 exhibition at Foam. The exhibition honours Augusta Curiel who was one of Suriname's first female photographers. Renowned for her composition and technical skills, Augusta Curiel also ran a very successful photography studio with her sister Anna. Together, the Curiel sisters are celebrated for capturing the daily life of the people and landscapes of Suriname in the early 20th century.
