With more than 250 films on offer, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) 2024 is a hefty programme. Where do you even begin? Well, we can help! We curated a list of films with subject matter that fits with what we're about here. Here are just a few of the films that caught our eye:

• Lessons of Indigenous and anti-colonial practices – Filmmaking as a Tool of Narrative Sovereignty, a panel discussion in which a group of filmmakers will share their ethics and journeys in decolonizing storytelling
• Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat, a film that intertwines jazz and the fight for independence in 1960s Congo
• A Fidai Film, a film that reconstructs a visual record of Palestinian life before and after the Nakba
• Union, a film about the uphill battle faced by a group of Amazon distribution centre employees who attempted to unionize
• Machine Boys, a film about the subculture of okada riders in the city of Lagos
• DOLLHOUSE for Queer Imaginaries, a virtual reality exhibition that transforms the digital safe spaces of queer people and reimagines them in physical shapes
